Taking Me Back 20+ Years!

This past weekend we took Alan out to our cabin, in Lapeer. Not too far from home, but on a quiet, private lake that my grandfather has owned for YEARS. We've get the cabin for the 4th every year and the memories we have made will be cherished forever, as our own individual/family memories. 2008 marks AJ's first trip and now it turns into his memories (and our's with him). I cannot explain the emotions that I felt realizing that my life is now complete and dreams really do come true.

Nothing has changed....
*Taking out the paddleboat with Trenton and my cousin and just spinning circles because noone can steer, and belly laughter that can be heard from across the lake.

*Wondering which baby was going to actually fall asleep and miss all of the excitement.

*Swinging on the porch swing with loved ones.

*Getting into everything, and looky here right for mommy's pop (don't worry, it wasn't open) We were cooking a late dinner, which is always the case out here because we are having so much fun to stop. AJ crawled into the kitchen and found my case of Dt. Dew.

*My sister and I headed to the docks at dusk with fishing poles in one hand and worms in the other. I hit one dock, she the other...who was going to catch the biggest fish? Of course, I did, but boy did the adventures begin when Sarah caught a fish in the eyeball. I hear, "Dad!" "I'm not coming down, you have to take it off yourself." He eventually came down, "I'm not coming down again." Sure enough, she cast again and I think caught the same stupid fish in the same stupid spot. "Dad!" "I'm not coming down." "Rayna!" Yeah right, I step on the fish to get the hook out. So I head over to help and as we are both gagging at the sight of the eyeball looking like it's going to bulge out we both yell, "DAD!" He comes down, of course. Next cast, I catch a bass and it swallowed the stupid hook. I just cut the line!!! This totally took us all back to the days when my dad would have to come down to help us out, because even though we will split the worm and put it on the hook ourselves, 20 some years later we still won't touch fish.

*Meanwhile, my mom and nephew were busy scoping out the turtle scene underneath the dock. And yes, they caught two.

*And this view closes each and every night, as we sit on the swing, put the little ones to bed and wonder about what tomorrow will bring.

This is truly the best paradise there is. Things may have changed but we have little new comers to help keep the family tradition. Seeing my nephews out at the cabin and looking at all the picture from when we were all that small. I just amazing. This was the best time there was being with my family.. and the sweetest kids I know..
